Afro Caribbean Pi*a Colada Beer is exactly what it sounds like: a tropical holiday masquerading as a beer.

Brewed in Cape Town by Afro Caribbean Brewing Company in collaboration with Cocktail Daddy, Rhys MacBeth, this 7% cocktail-inspired beer takes its cues from the classic Pi*a Colada. Coconut and pineapple do most of the heavy lifting, while lime adds freshness and vanilla rounds everything out with a soft, creamy edge.

The base uses Pilsner malt and rolled oats, giving the beer a smooth, full texture that works particularly well with the tropical fruit character. Citra hops provide a subtle citrus lift without piling on bitterness, the beer sits at just12 IBUs, so this is very much about juicy, creamy refreshment rather than hops.

It's fruity. It's coconutty. It's 7%. And after a couple, your garden chair may begin to feel suspiciously like a Caribbean beach. Tasting Notes Appearance: Pale golden with a soft haze and a creamy white head. Nose: Big tropical aromas of ripe pineapple and coconut, followed by vanilla, fresh lime and a light citrus character from the Citra hops.

Palate: Soft, juicy and full-bodied. Sweet pineapple and creamy coconut lead, with rolled oats contributing a smooth mouthfeel. Vanilla adds richness before a squeeze of lime brings freshness and prevents things from becoming overly sweet. Finish: Smooth and tropical with lingering coconut and pineapple, balanced by a light citrus tang and restrained bitterness.
